What “Inference Only” Means
In AI terms, inference refers to the stage where a trained model is used to make decisions or predictions, rather than being taught or retrained. In simple terms, the Acumen Edge doesn’t learn it applies what it has already learned. This means it can rapidly process images, detect defects, measure features, and make pass/fail decisions in real time using pre-trained models.
Because it doesn’t perform training, the Acumen Edge requires far less processing power, allowing for a smaller, more affordable industrial system that’s easy to install and maintain.
