Planning & Procurement Specialist

Main Purpose of the Job 

The successful candidate will evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and review product quality. You will be responsible for the timely procurement of goods and services for Ash Technologies, ensuring cost effectiveness commensurate with quality. The incumbent will promote and maintain a prominent level of communication and liaison with external suppliers and the various departments within Ash Technologies.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Oversee the Sales Forecasting process by getting input from the Commercial team to ensure the smooth manufacturing flow of Ash products and related R&D projects while ensuring we minimise excess stock holding whilst maximising availability. 
  • Place timely orders with suppliers to ensure we meet our minimum stock holding targets; maintain service level agreements with all suppliers. 
  • Forecast price and market trends/challenges to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power. 
  • Produce regular reports for the Management Team on performance against key metrics and highlight issues to be addressed. 
  • Meet with staff and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action. 
  • Highlight slow moving and obsolete stock and challenge the business to reduce the volume of these items. 
  • Oversee Vendor and component sourcing and Conduct annual vendor approval and performance reporting.
  • Procurement.
  • Manage and maintain the AVL list.
  • Expediting materials.
  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers and evaluate based on price, quality, and speed of delivery.
  • Source suppliers for custom parts.
  • Source sub-contract manufacturing companies.
  • Assist suppliers in sourcing of alternative PCA (Printed Circuit Assembly) components.
  • Assist in scheduling with manufacturing planning.
  • Assist suppliers in the design of packaging.
  • Assist R&D department in purchasing and procurement.
  • Maintain the Purchasing Department ISO9001 documentation.
  • Continuous improvement.
     

You will report to the Operations Director and your priority will be to manage the purchasing and timely delivery of stock to Ash Technologies, in line with demand planning and minimum stock levels. 

The Person 

Preferably you will have a qualification in Supply Chain management or similar with at least 5 years’ relevant experience in the manufacturing industry. You will have good PC skills, be an expert on Excel, and have good data analysis skills. You should have the ability to quickly adapt to our demand planning software and should possess sound judgement with decision making skills. A proven track record in meeting and exceeding targets would be an advantage and excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential.
